Street Tree Masterplan
Municipal | 2025 | Delhi, NY
Comprehensive street tree masterplan for Delhi's downtown, developed in collaboration with garden designer Don Statham as part of the Village's NYS DRI grant submission. The plan addresses the decline of existing monoculture plantings (primarily Amur Maples) with diverse, resilient species selected for seasonal interest, appropriate scale, and climate adaptation.
Strategic tree placement provides green stormwater infrastructure—filtering and cooling runoff before it enters the Delaware River, part of the NYC watershed. Plantings also address Delhi's urban heat island effect (10°F warmer than surrounding areas). Custom planter details support downtown business owners and provide flexible planting solutions for Main Street's varied conditions.
This project is phase one of a village-wide street tree initiative emphasizing native plantings and long-term ecological resilience.
