Delhi Motor Company: Unparking Lots

Commercial | Concept, 2025 | Delhi NY

Concept design transforming a former auto dealership's parking-dominated landscape into a green gateway for Delhi. Part of the Village's "Garden Spot" initiative, the plan reconfigures excess parking to introduce street trees, rain gardens, and flexible gathering spaces while maintaining functional parking for current mixed-use tenants.

The design addresses Meredith Street's role as a northern village gateway—currently defined by expansive asphalt and no tree canopy. Proposed rain gardens manage stormwater runoff and reduce heat island effects, mirroring strategies deployed on Main Street. Street trees create a cohesive green corridor connecting to adjacent properties.

The concept incorporates salvaged materials that reinforce the building's adaptive reuse strategy. Current winter snow management is testing the proposed traffic flow patterns before implementation.
