Native Cape Garden

Residential | 2023-2025 | Eastham, MA

Multi-phase native planting design blending a Cape Cod residential property into the surrounding natural landscape. Phase one reconfigured the garden to accommodate new stone walls and improved access from lower parking areas. Phase two focused on invasive removal and strategic infill planting with an all NE-native palette.

Nearly 500 NE-native shrubs, perennials, and bulbs were installed to create seamless transitions between the existing mixed garden and adjacent natural areas while suppressing invasive species. Plant selection addresses the site's sandy soils and varied light conditions—from deep shade to full sun within a compact area. The layered design provides all-season interest through evergreen groundcovers, ephemeral spring bulbs, and perennials blooming from early summer through late fall.

Foundation plantings extend the existing garden's character while reinforcing ecological function and reducing maintenance.
